The art of
pottery - ever ancient, ever new.
About our
work ...
In
this age of advanced technology we labor to be a voice for the earth:
simple, beautiful, useful.
Mark
is the "pugmaster" of the studio, recycling clay in the pug mill.
The pug mill is the clay mixer and extruder that allows us to
have
clay to throw on the potter's wheel. Mark assists by lifting
heavy pieces off the wheel and turning them for trimming. He
is
also the web designer for the studio.
Tomelene
is the potter. Originally from New York, she
received her
early art training at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, the National
Academy of Art & Design, and the Art Student's League of New
York. While pursuing a BA in Art from Queens College, CUNY,
Tomelene fell in love with clay. Considered the most abstract
of
all art media, ceramics combines painting, drawing and
sculpture.
Having completed her BA, she obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics
from Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles.
Her
work has been shown in
the White Oak Gallery, Los Olivos, the Nancy Phelps Gallery, Santa Ynez
and Artisance Gallery, Laguna Beach, California. Her
functional
work and fountains are in private collections in Europe, Canada and
throughout the United States. Tomelene continues to explore
hand
thrown stoneware celebrating daily life and the healing sound of water
as part of ceramic sculpture.
New
work is shown by appointment at our private gallery in Lompoc.
